Winter Adventures

Sorry to inform you all, but it has not been the winter wonderland that I have expected. I know. I know. It is only December but I really wanted way more snow than this. We did get a couple of inches of snow last night. Enough to have all the neighborhood kid out in it. That includes Ridley. He took an hour long, off leash, romp through the snow with Dwayne and I chasing him trying to get him back to the house. Needless to say I don't believe that he minds the snow. I on the other hand, don't like wet socks, shoes, and pant bottoms.
Several things have happened int he last few weeks. I got a JOB!!!! I will be doing outdoor education at the Lewis Wint Nature Center. Yes, even int he winter. I am going to have to invest in some new clothes. I am actually employed by the county, so that is actually kind of cool. The uniform.....lets just say that I might look like a mechanic. And everyone knows that I am not that.
O.K. So to get the job I need a Michigan drivers license or a driving record from the state of Texas. I needed it in 4 days. Problem: I couldn't show proof of residency in Michigan and my Texas driving record will take 14 days to get here. So after 3 days of jumping through hoops, going to the bank, to the social security office, selling my first born(should that ever happen), I now have a Michigan license and I am employed.
Last weekend was filled with Christmas parties. We started at the Michigan Secretary of State to spend a fun filled hour trying to get my license. Then we went to a family party before we headed across the state to a ugly Christmas sweater party. I learned many things at this party. Some I'm not proud of. Some are not to be spoken of. And from Willie in describing cow pie for Catch Phrase.... Pasture Pastries. We are still laughing about that one.
Christmas is right around the corner and I still have not finished my shopping. Maybe later today. In one week Dwayne and I will begin our trek to Texas. We are hoping to be there on the 27th and in Ft. Worth some time around the 30th. See all of the Texans then.

It's getting cold out theeerrrr.......

I wish i could say "It's snowing!!!" but I can't. Maybe later on this evening. It is getting much cooler. The high today is supposed to be in the upper 30's. That being said.....the outdoor running may be coming to a stop.

O.K. Most of you know how random I an so I'm not even going to apologize for the randomness that comes out of my mouth. Or in this case my fingers.

Michigan is growing on me more and more. It is a beautiful place. Even when there are no leaves on the trees it is beautiful. I have been keeping myself busy looking for jobs. Have not found one yet so my stress level is rising. On thing that just pisses me off about Michigan is the way people drive up here. Apparently rolling stops are O.K. in Michigan. And you are a damned fool if you come to a complete stop because no one is going to let you pass. Dwayne says I will get used to "breaking this law". Some how I think not. I'm such a rule follower and all.  Other than that things have been going well here. I will tell you that I have been missing many things about Texas though. I know what everyone is going to say...."the weather is one of them right". Well no. I am actually loving this weather right now. One of the places is Fuzzy's Taco Shop. What I wouldn't give for a Garlic Beef Taco. Oh I can almost taste it.

Dwayne and I went to the Detroit Red Wings game last night. It was fun and the Wings lost. Sorry to all my Michigan family and friends but like i said last night. You can take the girl out of Texas but she will never be a Red Wings fan. GO STARS!!!! Well I digress. I did have fun seeing downtown Detroit. I also saw Canada last night. Just across the river. I waved because I will not be able to go there anytime soon.

That seems to about wrap it up. I will try to get better about posting more frequently. I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving and I hope to see most of you at Christmas.

Back To The Warm South...

I know I haven't been a Michigander long but I am back in Texas to oversee the move! The flight was completely smooth and the time went really fast. That part was good. Great even. The oversleeping, almost missing the flight part. Not so much. Bring on the panic attack. And I haven't even had my first cup of coffee yet! O.K. so those of you who know me well (Dwayne) know that I do not like the 'Oh crap, I'm about to miss my flight feeling'!
So I land in Texas with my longsleve shirt and sweater on and walk out of the airport and imediately regret my choice in wardrobe. It was warm! But thankfully there is a Starbucks on every corner and I was able to get my fix! Still a little foggy but all in all good! I'll let you know how the move goes.

Well I am finally here....Now back to Texas!

Well we finally arrived in Michigan on Wednesday October 28th. The drive up was O.K. It rained most of the way. That made taking pictures of the colors along the highway a little difficult. That and the fact that I'm a moron and forgot to charge my camera battery. I do have some pictures but don't think the iphone will do justice. For all of you who want to know about the weather.....It has been nice so far. We have actually seen the sun on occasion. It has mainly been in the 50's but it was a bit cooler than that today. And they are calling for rain/snow showers on Wednesday. Oh, and by the way....people in Northville Michigan know how to do Halloween right! It was crazy out of control.

Now the back to Texas part....We sold our house!!! I am flying in on Wednesday(so I still may miss the first snow of fall). Going to sit around the house and "watch" while the movers load everything up. It should be great. Maybe I'll be able to get one more round of golf in while I'm in Texas.
